The 2009 Spike TV VGA Awards aired last night on the boobtube. If you caught the show, brownie points for you. If you didn’t catch the show then you’ve missed out. The show last night was ridiculously awesome. With a bevy of celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson, Olivia Wilde, Jack Black, and many other big names making appearances, can you really go wrong? I think I almost creamed myself a couple of times just watching all of the world premieres. Nothing new.

Game of the Year, Best PS3 Game, & Best Graphics: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
I have not had the pleasure of playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as of yet because I sadly do not own a PS3. Although, I had the chance to play the first Uncharted Game and I was thoroughly impressed. I am not sure if this game should be considered game of the year but what do I know. Visually, I would say this game is very impressive. If the storyline from this game is any indication like the first, you can bet I will find a way to play this game.
Studio of the Year: Rocksteady Studios
I just recently heard about this developer through the grapevine and I must say they are very promising. This developer is actually based in North London and are the creators of the game , Batman: Arkham Asylum. If you haven’t played this game yet, go pick it up. It is definitely one of the best Batman games I have played in a very long time. Batman Arkham Asylum 2 is set to be released in 2010.
Best Independent Game Fueled by Dew: Flower
This game definitely caught me off guard. I am a big fan of independent video games and Flower from independent developer, The Game Company, is a definite game to keep your eye on. With a unique design and addictive play, I will definitively be waiting to see if I can buy this game in the near future and add it to my collection.
Best Xbox 360 Game: Left 4 Dead 2
Now I got the chance to play the first game on the PC and I was very impressed. The second game I got the chance to play a couple of days ago and I must say this game is even better. As for this being the best Xbox 360 game, I beg to differ. I believe everyone in all categories deserve to win an award for something but I own an Xbox 360 and I don’t believe this game is the best on Xbox 360. I would have either went with Batman: Arkham Asylum or Halo: ODST as the winners in this category.
Best Wii Game: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
I don’t own a Wii but I have played this game. It was delectably satisfying. If your a fan of the Mario Bro’s series, then this will be right up your alley.
Best PC Game, Best RPG: Dragon Age: Origins
Awesome game for the PC. But I believe Fallout 3 was cheated out of winning the best RPG spot.
Best Handheld Game: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
I love how Grand Theft Auto always come up with new story lines that are just as fun as previous titles. If you love the Grand Theft Auto series, you will most likely enjoy a run through of Chinatown Wars.
Best Shooter & Best Multiplayer Game: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Awesome shooter game! The realism, acting, visuals, storyline, gameplay is superb. One of the best shooters I have seen in 2009.
Best Fighting Game: Street Fighter IV
I really liked the new design look and storyline. Another great Street Fighter game to add to the collection.
Best Action Adventure Game: Assassin’s Creed II
Hell yes! Assassins Creed II won this hands down. If you haven’t played this game yet, you must be living under a rock. I can speak for myself that this game didn’t even appeal to me until I got my hands on it. If you played the first Assassins Creed you will love this game even more.
Best Individual Sports Game: UFC 2009 Undisputed
Was actually alot more fun then I thought. I am not really a fan of these kind of games but the visuals and gameplay were satisfying. Knockouts are very realistic and pleasing.
Best Team Sports Game: NHL 10
I saw a couple of previews and I must say, this game looks really cool. If your a fan of these kind of games, buy this game. Its the best for a reason.
Best Driving Game: Forza Motorsport 3
Pretty cars driving fast, I can dig it.
Best Music Game: The Beatles: Rock Band
Awesome game for Rock Band. Love it! Rock Band owners will be happy with this game. Follow The Beatles on their path to stardom. For those gamers out there who don’t know much about The Beatles because the music was well before their time. The Beatles: Rock Band is a great way to get to know their music, and learn more about the band’s history.
Best Soundtrack: DJ Hero
I tried this game at a friends house. Like guitar hero, this game is crazy addictive and fun. If you ever thought you could thrown down some beats, here is a game that will test your skills.
Best Original Score: Halo 3: ODST
I will have to agree with this decision. The score for Halo has always been nothing but amazing. As in previous games, I think all the gamers will agree that when it comes to an original score, the people at Bungie know what they are doing.
Best Game Based On A Movie/TV Show: South Park Let’s Go Tower Defense Play!
Never played this game but saw some footage of it. I caught myself giggling which is not something I normally do.
Best Performance By A Human Female: Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Shes hot, who can compete with The Fox.
Best Performance By A Human Male: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine & Best Cast: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Mutants rule, enough said.
Best Voice: Jack Black in Brutal Legend
This was an interesting choice. Jack Black is one talented actor. The game is also really fun to play. I especially like the comedic relief Jack Black lends to the game.
Best Downloadable Game: Shadow Complex
This game was freaking cool. I was shocked to find this game to be downloadable because of how awesome the visuals are. The way this game was designed, it sort of gives a vintage feel to how games were made back in the day.
Best DLC: Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony
Caught off guard by the title but is another Grand Theft Auto hit.
Most Anticipated Game of 2010: God of War III
And the God of War will always, rock on.
Here are the games that were previewed on the show.
Halo Reach, Batman Arkham Asylum 2, Medal Of Honor, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Star Wars The Force Unleashed II, Green Day Rock Band, Crackdown 2, UFC Undisputed 2010, Deadliest Warrior, Tron Evolution, and True Crime.
